Faith Paulus, founder of Back to the Tap, was recently selected as a finalist for the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Each year, the chamber honors successful companies and individuals who represent the best of the best in business. Paulus was selected as a finalist because of her work to help minimize the catastrophic waste created by disposable water bottles by driving consumers Back to the Tap.
The company, founded in November of 2007, offers water bottles that feature an exclusive carbon composite device that filters as you drink, producing great tasting water. The filter for the sports water bottle can be utilized 300 times and the biological sports bottle can remove up to 99.99 percent of cysts, bacteria and protozoan parasites from water. Replacement filters are available at an affordable cost to encourage consumers to continually reuse the bottle, thereby creating less waste.

The Back to the Tap campaign works to raise awareness about the hazards of disposable water bottles. The Oceanside-based business also assists in providing filters and supplies to regions that are without safe drinking water.

When we as a society can change a daily behavioral habit, like how we consume our water, it can lead to a higher conforming level of environmental consciousness for us all.”
