Radici Yarn SpA has obtained UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 certification for its environmental management system related to the development, manufacture and marketing of polyamide 6 polymer and polyamide 6 and 66 masterbatches, staple fibre and continuous filament yarn at its Villa d'Ogna (BG) and Pistoia (PT) production sites.
This certification was a very important step for Radici Yarn, which is one of most well-known and trusted manufacturers of polyamide 6 and 66 (Radilon®) POY, FDY and FOY used for weaving, texturing and circular, warped and seamless knitting, as well as polyamide 6 (Radilon®) staple, tow and masterbatches. Radici Yarn is a leader in product quality and always at the forefront with its sustainable development agenda aimed at environmental preservation. Certitex – an independent certification organization for the textile and clothing industry in Italy and abroad - audited Radici Yarnpolyamide 6 polymerization, POY and FOY spinning, staple spinning and masterbatch production at the Villa d'Ogna site and the polyamide 66 POY spinning process at the Pistoia site. At both sites Certitex also checked the sorting, packaging and shipping processes.
"We want to make a tangible contribution to the safeguarding and improvement of our environment and the use of its natural resources, while ensuring the total sustainability of the Group’s manufacturing activities,” said Oscar Novali, Radici Yarn managing director.“As required by the standard, we defined our environmental goals and objectives and implemented a system that could effectively avert and manage the most significant negative environmental impacts of the various industrial activities carried on at our production sites.
This was a key step in putting our environmental agenda into practice. Operating on a global scale with an environmental management system compliant with the ISO 14001 standard is of primary importancein creating added value for our enterprises both in today's market and the market of the future. The market demands increasingly greater assurance, and thus certification has become a differentiating factor. We are committed to environmental protection and pollution prevention and they are fundamental components of our business management system."
Radici Yarn’s commitment to the environment is part of a comprehensive RadiciGroup environmental policy.
Among the policy’s objectives are total compliance with applicable laws and the regulations in matters related to safety and the environment; introducing and maintaining an efficient integrated environmental management system for continuous monitoring of production activities with the goal of minimizing the probability of accidents and their consequences;and reducing the negative environmental impact of industrial activities, processes and products in order to safeguard the environment (which includes more rational use of energy and natural resources and responsible management of waste production focused on recovery).
This policy also provides for defining objectives consistent with the process of continual environmental performance improvement; advance assessment — starting in the development stage — of the impact of new processes and products on safety, the workplace and the surrounding environment; adopting, whenever possible, the best technologies available in accordance with the provisions of the European directives in force; and promoting environmental awareness and culture in the workplace by means of training and sharing improvement objectives among staff members. Finally, the agenda aims at heightening the awareness of suppliers and third parties operating at our sites to relevant environmental protection standards and procedures.
