L.A.B. – the European trade fair and conference for analysis, bio and laboratory equipment in the UK announces that the United Kingdom Science Park Association (UKSPA) will be supporting L.A.B. 2009 in Birmingham. Staged every two years, L.A.B. will be held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham from October 27-29, 2009 and is the only platform of its kind in the UK for the European laboratory and analysis sector. L.A.B. is predominantly aimed at manufacturers and users of analysis, biotechnology and laboratory equipment in the pharmaceutical, chemical, food and tobacco industries, as well as public and private sector organizations in medical and environmental engineering.
UKSPA will be supporting L.A.B. by organizing conference streams focusing on current issues and best practice for laboratories including those based on UK Science Parks. In addition UKSPA will organize parts of the European Business Forum covering discussions and presentations on a range of topics including: funding, research and development taxation, business support through UK regional development agencies and other national sources of advice and finance. The UKSPA contribution will ensure that the Business Forum demonstrates the role that Science Parks - and other UK environments - play in delivering business services at a time of economic downturn. Furthermore, UKSPA is planning study tours to local UKSPA member science parks alongside the event for interested visitors, conference attendees and exhibitors. “As 2009 sees the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Association it will demonstrate how, over the last two decades, the emergence and growth of Science Parks throughout the UK has helped create many thousands of scientific, technical knowledge-based businesses”, says UKSPA Chief Executive Paul Wright.
“We are setting up the European Business Forum for manufacturers, industry representatives and scientists to meet with and discuss prevalent issues and it is great news that UKSPA will be helping to deliver this important part of the event”, states Silvana Kürschner, Project Director of L.A.B. “We are fortunate to draw on UKSPA’s experience in nurturing relationships and building networks. By UKSPA supporting L.A.B. with specific marketing and promotion activities, even more visitors will be attracted,” adds the Project Director.
With more than 120 exhibitors and around 3,000 visitors from more than 20 countries expected to attend, UKSPA Chief Executive Paul Wright comments "We are delighted to work in partnership with Leipziger-Messe to support L.A.B. 2009. The trade fair and conference program provide the perfect opportunity for companies based on UK Science Parks to meet with the laboratory sector at a major international event.”
Paul Wright comments further, “In 2009 - the 25th anniversary of the United Kingdom Science Park Association - we are working to help ensure that L.A.B. is developed as the leading European trade fair for the laboratory, biotech and life sciences sectors; areas where UK Science Parks need to be at the cutting edge of development and delivery. The combination of a world class conference alongside the exhibition, supported by the leading laboratory science suppliers provides the ideal forum to discuss current best practice as well as the challenges that the sector faces in the future.”
Early bird 10 percent discount for exhibition space reservations has been extended until February 28, 2009.
