Sweetwater Growers, Inc. is collaborating with Whole Foods Market, Inc. to launch its all-natural line of extra virgin olive oil infused with fresh herbs. Sweetwater Growers’ infused oils will be available at 18 Southeast Whole Foods Market locations beginning February 18. The infused oils will be offered at an introductory price through February 24. All Sweetwater Growers herbs and micro-greens are grown in a sterile, controlled greenhouse environment using an efficient, nature-friendly process called hydroponics.
“We're proud to be working with Sweetwater Growers and are proud of yet another quality product that they're bringing to market. Our customers are looking for more and more locally produced items, and we're sure the infused oils are going to be very popular,” said Kevin Doty, South Region produce coordinator for Whole Foods Market.
Sweetwater Growers imports the highest-quality Mediterranean extra virgin olive oil, which is then infused with fresh herbs using a special process certified by the University of Georgia. The infused oils, available in ten flavors, can be used for turning simple dishes into gourmet meals. Recipes for using the infused olive oils are available online on the Sweetwater Growers website.
“In today’s market, consumers are increasingly concerned about the quality and source of their food. More and more consumers are insisting on locally grown, all-natural foods that are free from hormones, chemicals, pesticides and preservatives,” said James Dault, managing partner for Sweetwater Growers.
In addition to supplying infused extra virgin olive oils, Sweetwater Growers also supplies Whole Foods Market with specialty micro-greens and living basil plants.
“Sweetwater Growers has worked with Whole Foods for four years now, and we have learned that Whole Foods is truly committed to supporting and growing local and small businesses,” said Dault.
