This unique tour will run from Saturday 25 April to Saturday 2 May, 2009 -- eight incredible days to witness the island's stellar cultural and social achievements and join hands with one million Cubans affirming the power of people to create a better world.
The massing of a million Cubans on the Plaza de la Revolucion for Havana's May Day celebration makes this the largest annual gathering after the Mecca pilgrimage. They’re people like you who dream of a clean sustainable planet of plenty and an end to war. Each year, friends of Cuba from over a hundred countries also attend. The celebrations include music, dance, pageantry, speeches, and appearances by world dignitaries. The elected leaders of the island are in attendance too. Nothing in life compares to the depth of emotion felt when immersed in an ocean of humanity proclaiming their desire for peace, equality, and dignity in heartfelt unison.
Here's who should go: Those who want to be an honored international guest at the famed Havana May Day celebrations on this historic 50th anniversary occasion. Those who want to objectively assess five decades of island achievements for labor, women, people of color, youth and the elderly, and sexual minorities. Those who love art, music, nature, museums, and dance. It's also for those who want to learn from Cubans who have won key social justice victories North Americans are still striving to achieve.
This official tour has special island recognition and is designed by Cubans to allow North Americans to candidly examine and enjoy island life as is only possible with Cuba Education Tours. It all happens from the comfort of the luxurious five star Hotel Habana Libre. Participants will have lunch with Jose Fuster, one of Cuba's most important ceramists and artists, and enjoy fine dining at eateries of renown, including a farewell group dinner at the elegant Cafe del Oriente They’ll hear Havana's best jazz at La Zorra y el Cuervo.
