RR Donnelley's Global Document Solutions (GDS), a leading provider of outsourcing services for customer communications management, has been awarded a contract extension by Scottish Parliament to deliver a print and electronic publishing service for all official documents.
Global Document Solutions has worked with the Scottish Parliament for five years, following a European-wide tender process. The company has now been awarded a twelve month contract extension to manage the printing and distribution of all official parliamentary publications as well as the promotion and marketing of the publications.
The Scottish Parliament was seeking an all-encompassing service that could provide innovation and fast document turnaround time - as many of the official documents need to be printed overnight and distributed the next day. GDS will continue to deliver multiple document management services through a specialist on-site team at the Scottish Parliament, who format and prepare documents for print, and a dedicated team at GDS premises in Edinburgh who will print, publish and distribute all documents.
GDS also provides an electronic convergence service through its own specialist proprietary software which enables all documents to be converted to a suitable electronic format to be uploaded onto the Scottish Parliament's website.
Fred Pollock, Managing Director, RR Donnelley Global Document Solutions (Scotland & Ireland), said: "The Scottish Parliament frequently needs to create important documents that are ready for distribution within hours. We were able to bring substantial benefits through our dedicated teams that can ensure that this overnight service will be delivered. During the life of this contract our service brought about cost savings on administration and production costs, as well as boosting their green credentials by sourcing less expensive eco-friendly production material. We're delighted to secure this one year extension and we look forward to continuing to deliver value to this very important client."
A Scottish Parliament spokeswoman said: "We are delighted to continue our relationship with GDS. It is vital for us to be able to quickly deliver information to the Scottish public, members of Scottish Parliament and staff and RR Donnelley's Global Document Solutions has provided an excellent service over the past five years."
