Artists Relations Group (ARG) has tapped internationally known music producer David Franco to supervise music, package and produce the soundtrack for Castro’s Daughter, which is based on the life of Fidel Castro’s exiled daughter: Alina Fernandez—who fled the island of Cuba disguised as a Spanish tourist. The screenplay is being written by Academy Award winner Bobby Moresco & Pulitzer Prize winner Nilo Cruz. The film is expected to feature a variety of music of the times, with songs performed by famous artists of today.
Franco began his career working as Director of International Production at multinational labels such as RCA, Columbia and Warner-Elektra-Atlantic Records. Franco, who is amazingly fluent in 5 different languages, has worked on over 150 Feature Films, TV Movies, Series & Documentaries; he has also produced and/or supervised over 50 soundtrack albums, including the iconic soundtracks for Ghost and Platoon. One of his most recent projects includes Paramount Vantage’s Into the Wild, which was written and directed by Sean Penn—the film received two Golden Globes nominations in the music category in 2007.
Throughout his career, Franco has worked with a variety of renowned Producers and Directors such as Oliver Stone, Steven Spielberg and Wes Craven. Franco has also worked on a dozen TNT films, including two of Ted Turners’ epics: Gettysburg and Gods & Generals”.
In addition to his vast experience in music production around the world, Franco works directly with acclaimed and up-and-coming film composers, recording artists, music publishers and record labels; he also records film scores with well-known orchestras and studios around the world. Franco commented on “how important a role music played in the history of Cuba; the incredible writers, performers/bands and dancers that originated from there and their contribution to Latin Music. Our goal is to recapture some of these moments in the film and soundtrack album with the participation of major contemporary Latin Recording Artists."
ARG, headed by Austin-based producers John Martinez and Noel Tristan, is working closely with Franco to develop the soundtrack package, which already has several labels looking to potentially distribute.
