A fifty-strong field was reduced to four, before the innovative online takeaway business triumphed in the final, held at Warwick Business School on 21 November.
Following a Dragon’s Den-style pitch, four judges – including respected executives from Merrill Lynch and Accenture – cast their votes and unanimously chose e-resistible as the winner. An impressive 47% of the audience agreed with the panel, voting via electronic keypad. This gave the innovative online takeaway business a clean sweep of the five votes available and the £1000 first prize.
e-resistible was shortlisted following submission of a 250-word written statement and invited to attend the final. The team of three submitted a further business plan and delivered an interactive presentation, engaging both the audience and the judges. e-resistible enables people to order food via a single online portal. Appropriately, their slick pitch with substance gave a live demonstration of the ordering process and culminated in a pizza delivery to the judges.
As well as the £1000 – donated by Merrill Lynch – e-resistible will receive advice from an appropriate business mentor, appointed by Warwick Entrepreneurs. Directors Stephen Leguillon (20), Steve Barnes (20) and Velin Djidjev (20) – all final-year Management students at Warwick Business School – have already been running e-resistible successfully for the last six months. During this time, they have signed up nearly 150 restaurants, covering Birmingham, Bristol, Reading, Gloucester, Cheltenham and parts of London.
