For most restaurants and food service businesses, the largest mechanical consumer of energy are HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems. While the energy saving adjustments that restaurateurs can make to energy guzzlers such as lighting and refrigeration are minimal, even minor improvements in how climate control is managed can have a significant positive impact on energy bills.

In an effort to help restaurateurs reduce energy waste and improve their bottom line, Advanced Telemetry, LLC, a company committed to resource conservation, has introduced EcoView™ Commercial. This next generation energy management system takes the burden out of restaurant operator’s hands for the smart control of restaurant heating and cooling.

After a simple installation, restaurant operators can see, track and control, in real-time, how their air conditioning and heating is being used. Restaurateurs can operate the simple-to-use system through a wireless touch pad or virtually anywhere via a web or PDA interface. EcoView commercial customers are provided with dedicated Account Managers operating from Advanced Telemetry’s own 24/7 network monitoring center, further aiding the restaurant operator’s energy saving efforts.

EcoView Account Managers take over the responsibility of temperature control and help EcoView customers to establish temperature set-points and climate control schedules. The Account Managers monitor and adjust usage to maximize cost savings from energy reductions while maintaining comfortable temperatures for the specific building environment.

This active account management service is a time-saver for business owners and also prevents inappropriate heating and cooling changes by unauthorized restaurant staff, ensuring consistent, efficient energy management.

According to Gus Ezcurra, CEO of Advanced Telemetry, “Quick service restaurants who use EcoView are realizing, on average, at least a 12 percent decrease per month in energy consumption, without compromising quality temperature control. Over the period of a year, this change can add up to quite significant savings, and for owners of multiple establishments, the benefits are even greater.”

The EcoView system, which is available to commercial users directly from Advanced Telemetry, can be purchased for as low as $560, with remote monitoring and management packages from $40 per month.

According to Buck Smith, Director of Sales for Advanced Telemetry, customer results have been impressive. Mr. Smith references one customer, the owner of a 20 unit quick service restaurant franchise. “This owner averages savings of well over $100 per month per store. But even at $100 per month of savings, he would still be reducing his energy bill by $24,000 per year. The payback period on his investment was less than 6 months,” said Mr. Smith. “Another of our customers is currently seeing an average savings of $1,000 per month. The results, are quite encouraging, particularly when restaurateurs are seeing rising costs for other necessities such as commodities and labor.”

With additional sensors for water consumption and virtually any other energy consuming device, EcoView™ Commercial operates as an easily customizable, all-in-one tool for identifying, at any given time, culprits of resource waste, while also helping restaurateurs to enact more eco-conscious business practices.

“As economic pressures grow, energy costs rise, profit margins shrink, and environmental responsibility becomes more vital, we are offering businesses a solution to easily reduce the costly waste of energy and other resources,” said Gus Ezcurra, CEO of Advanced Telemetry. “With EcoView™ Commercial, businesses can, in a simple and achievable way, help their bottom lines and the health of the planet at the same time.”
