MECL service improvements include:

MECL1:
• Improved eastbound transit times by removing the Malaga call from MECL1;
• Reversed Charleston (SC, US) & Norfolk (VA, US) calls on the MECL1 for faster transit time between Norfolk - Jebel Ali (UAE);
• Fast eastbound service to Port Said (Egypt) on the MECL1.

MECL2:
• Direct Houston call on MECL2 resulting in improved transit times;
• Direct Djibouti call on MECL2 eastbound voyage (alternate weeks);
• Connections via Algeciras (Spain) and Gioia Tauro (Italy) available for Mediterranean cargo;
• Fast and direct inbound service from Port Said (Egypt);
• Direct call to Aqaba (Jordan) maintained on the MECL2 for time sensitive cargo to North America;
• Market exclusive direct calls in Chennai (India) maintained on the MECL2.

Effective dates:
• MECL1 - first eastbound sailing: Maersk Missouri voyage 0903 from Norfolk on 31 January 2009;
• MECL2 - first Westbound sailing: Gosport Maersk voyage 0902 from Colombo on 25 January 2009;
• MECL2 - first eastbound sailing exports from Houston: SL Commitment voyage 0903 on 13 January 2009.
