The creation of TheLessonPlanBook is a culmination of years of research on efficiently meeting the lesson management needs of K-12 teachers through an effective web-based system.
The demand for a user-friendly and comprehensive single-user lesson planning management system has grown significantly over the past several years. Teachers across the country are increasingly looking for an online lesson plan book. This demand influenced the creation of TheLessonPlanBook.com.
TheLessonPlanBook technology allows teachers to create personal online accounts to build, schedule, manage, and update lesson plans. Because the application is web-based, teachers can manage their lesson plans from anywhere they have internet access.
Teachers can schedule their lesson plans for the days and times they want to teach them, and then easily view the layout of what they will be teaching in the coming week, month, or year. The lessons can be quickly switched to a different day if plans change. They can also be set to recur every day, week, month, year, or another custom increment, until a date specified by the teacher. For example, if the teacher has a lesson plan that takes a week to teach, they can simply set the recurrence for 'daily' until the end of that week.
When the teacher adds or edits a lesson plan, they are provided with fields for subject area, course, and objective so that there is no need to look the information up anywhere else. Also, they have the option to list all the materials needed for a lesson, so the teacher knows exactly what they need to bring in on a particular day.
Lastly, teachers have a number of different sharing options for their lesson plans. All users can print and e-mail their lesson plans. Paid users can export their lesson plans to PDFs and share their lesson plans with other paid users of their choice.
Beta Testing for this product began December 15, 2008 and the official launch date is scheduled for January 7th, 2009.
