One Tap Dial is the only App Store application that allows users to put multiple speed dial icons directly on the iPhone's home screen. Clark said that One Tap Dial was designed to address the need for quick, convenient access to frequently dialed contacts without suffering from the serious limitations that cripple existing quick dial applications.
Clark commented "Before One Tap Dial, users had to install a separate application for each speed dial contact and had no way to customize or even name the icon for that contact. One Tap Dial lets you create home screen icons for as many contacts as you want and you can choose an icon and name for each one. Since the icons are on the iPhone's home screen, you can move them around and organize them into groups making One Tap Dial a convenient way to manage your frequently dialed contacts."
Clark demonstrated some common scenarios for One Tap Dial. The first involved Clark placing several speed dial icons on the first page of the iPhone home screen. "By placing my most frequently dialed contacts here, I have immediate One Tap access to them at all times." Clark then moved speed dial icons for his coworkers to their own page on the iPhone home screen, and icons for family members to yet another page on the home screen. "By organizing my speed dial icons, I have effectively created groups of speed dial contacts. This is just one way that One Tap Dial lets you organize your most frequently dialed contacts."
Another critical element in the design of One Tap Dial was privacy. "The most ingenious app in the world is no good if you can't trust it. One Tap Dial was designed from the ground up to protect the user's privacy. With earlier solutions, every phone number you quick dialed was sent to a server on the Internet. I would never use an app like that, so I knew One Tap Dial had to be secure. One Tap Dial never sends phone numbers anywhere. Phone numbers stay where they belong, on your phone."
Jason Clark is a freelance software developer of application and system software for the Apple iPhone and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
One Tap Dial is available now through the iTunes App Store, in the utilities category.
