Bill Van Gelder, developer, credits his success to three key factors; an affordable interval program, comfortable and authentic cottage designs, and a no-pressure, customer focused marketing and sales program.
“As the economy softens, people look more and more for value, and our fractional program offers great value,” said Van Gelder. “Our owners recognize that our smaller cottage sizes and quality construction mean lower maintenance costs in comparison to many competitive properties. Industry representatives also agree that fractional ownership provides cottage ownership enjoyment without committing a large amount of equity to a whole ownership cottage. With a decrease in credit availability, fractional ownership is growing more appealing to consumers who want the cottage experience, but not the whole ownership expense.
Blue Water Acres’ fractional ownership program was launched in May 2007. The development will include up to 44 two and three bedroom detached cottages in a secluded treed setting on Lake of Bays in Muskoka. Nineteen cottages are currently constructed.
The property features a sandy beach, indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, snow tubing hill, nature trails, boat dock and firepit. A new clubhouse will also be constructed. Blue Water Acres is a short drive away to internationally renowned Algonquin Park, the Hidden Valley alpine ski hill and the carriage trade town of Huntsville.
Five week intervals are priced from $29,900 to $79,900. Blue Water Acres’ highest interval price is typically the starting price for fractional intervals at other Ontario projects. Despite the competitive prices, ownership benefits include a maintenance free cottage lifestyle, a voluntary cottage rental program, and access to an international vacation exchange program. The quality constructed cottages feature flat screen televisions, screened Muskoka rooms, fully equipped kitchens, Canadiana furniture and more.
