In response to the increasing number of network security attacks businesses face every day – from viruses to “zombie” takeovers -- MicroServe Consulting, Inc. announces the national expansion of their Managed Security Service, a proactive approach to ward off a wide variety of threats before they can become all-out attacks.
MicroServe’s Managed Security Service (MSS) has been protecting customers throughout the Baltimore-Washington metro region for five years. Now, they are expanding MSS beyond the region to national customers.
A physical box roughly the size of a small laptop computer, Managed Security Service can be programmed to include the options each customer needs, including intrusion detection and prevention, email security, and high-level anti-spam filters. MicroServe handles all licenses and updates involved and guarantees against viruses.
Battling the evils of the Internet
“The Internet is a valuable tool for businesses today, yet it is full of evil, too,” explains Rick Albert, Executive Vice President of MicroServe Consulting, Inc. “The threat reports we compile for each customer show the number and type of threats we have detected and neutralized, and the attacks are clearly on the increase. MSS is a security net, a way to stop these threats before they can cause major damage to a network.”
Sometimes a company’s systems are compromised without their knowledge, and are used to attack other networks, hence the term “zombie” attack. Determining the source of the attack can be difficult, and the company may become blacklisted, branded as a danger, when in fact they were never the cause of the attack. MSS can detect and stop this type of attack before the company’s systems become zombies.
MSS makes telework more secure
With the security of MSS, employees can work from home or remote office locations with the assurance that their system is secure. This is a huge added benefit in these times of high gas prices and long commutes. Between the money saved by not driving to work every day and the quality of life benefits of working from home, there will be some very happy employees at businesses thanks to MSS.
Taking security a step further with Managed Services (MS)
For businesses with even more advanced security needs, MicroServe Consulting is in the process of rolling out Managed Services (MS), providing an even higher level of network security. MS can give businesses options such as off-site back-up, disaster recovery, Bare Metal Restore, and secure remote access that enables MicroServe Consulting to detect and fix problems from their location. Alternately, a business can run on servers located at MicroServe’s security audited Data Center and connect remotely, without the need to physically house the system at their company. MS is a fully customizable, high-end option for the customers with more advanced network security needs.
“People don’t realize that when we say, ‘We cover your Information Technology needs,’ we really mean that,” Albert continues. “We can put together any and all parts of their network, at all their locations, whether new or existing construction, and then we provide the level of security and monitoring they need, too.”
