Noticed a new lady cruising Charleston Harbor? SpiritLine Cruises and Fort Sumter Tours have recently added the Spirit of the Lowcountry to their fleet as the largest commercial passenger vessel in Charleston, with three decks and room for more than 500 passengers. She will transport visitors to Fort Sumter by day, and host private charters, such as weddings, receptions and seated dinners, by night.

SpiritLine Cruises brought the Spirit of the Lowcountry from Ohio and completed a year-long, multi-million dollar renovation from stem to stern. The boat will provide the largest event space for private charters in the Charleston area, and increase capacity for the company’s daily Fort Sumter trips.

With two enclosed decks and a third open deck, the Spirit of the Lowcountry offers approximately 3,700 square feet of heated and cooled space, seven bathrooms, an elevator, two bars, and plenty of open space to enjoy views of Charleston Harbor. She is handicap accessible, and will have little impact on the environment, as she complies with stringent environmental standards established by the International Organization for Standardization.

"SpiritLine Cruises is proud to offer the Spirit of the Lowcountry as a first-class choice for weddings and private events on Charleston Harbor, and to provide spacious, comfortable transportation to Fort Sumter," says Rick Mosteller, co-owner of SpiritLine Cruises and Fort Sumter Tours. "We even have a uniquely-designed space with brides in mind, to make their most special day even more memorable. We have already hosted several weddings, and they’ve been huge successes."

The Spirit of the Lowcountry will be formally introduced at an invitation-only event for local members of the hospitality industry on October 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, at Aquarium Wharf. Members of the media are welcome to attend. The ship will begin tours to Fort Sumter in November, but is available for private charters immediately.
