Guild, NH, United States, 2008/09/08 - Chad Pennington's 1st and 10 Foundation is proud to announce its Spring 2008 Grant Recipients. The Foundation had distributed over half a million dollars since its inception in 2003.

Chad Pennington’s 1st and 10 Foundation is pleased to announce that it has reached a significant milestone. More than $500,000 has been given to organizations since its inception in 2003. The Foundation has awarded $127,484 to eight organizations in Tennessee and West Virginia for this first grant cycle of 2008. The Foundation, which issues grants on a semi-annual basis, distributed $213,500 in 2007.
“This is an exciting day for the 1st and 10 Foundation”, said Chad Pennington, Foundation President. “Robin and I are so proud of the Foundation’s success and we are extremely grateful to the many people that have supported the Foundation and helped it grow into what it is today.”
The following organizations have received grants for the first grant cycle of 2008:
Tennessee Aquarium (Chattanooga, TN)
Funds to purchase a new outreach vehicle that will allow the Aquarium to deliver free environmental education programs to urban and economically disadvantaged children who cannot afford to visit the aquarium.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Tri-State (Huntington, WV)
Funding to further the campaign to seek additional male volunteers for the over 70 male children on the waiting list.
Huntington Habitat for Humanity (WV)
A joint project with Marshall University, this grant will help fund the construction of a Habitat House in Huntington.
The Bob Burdette Center, Inc. (Charleston, WV)
Funding to update the computer labs at all four West Side locations. All of the students attending The Bob Burdette Center are considered at-risk. These students do not have access to computers at home.
Cabell Huntington Hospital (WV)
Funding for a room at the Pediatric Hospital. This grant will equip a pediatric room to provide an age appropriate, child/family environment and service to promote an atmosphere of healing for its pediatric patients.
East Tennessee National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (TN)
Funding for the Play It Smart program – an education program targeted at high school student-athletes from economically disadvantaged environments where family & community support are lacking.
Cabell-Huntington Coalition for the Homeless (Huntington, WV)
Funding for Ready Room, a job reference & training center for homeless and at-risk individuals.
River Valley Child Development Services (Huntington, WV)
Funding for the renovation of Enterprise Child Development Center’s playground - to meet state licensing, Health Department, and NAEYC accreditation regulations, and to enhance the outdoor learning environment.
Chad and Robin Pennington created the 1st and 10 Foundation in 2003 with the mission to build stronger communities by funding programs and institutions that seek to improve quality of life throughout West Virginia, Tennessee and Florida.
