Antwerp, Belgium, 2008/08/23 - A new method for making high quality postcards by the public, is released by artist Peter Whiterose. Thanks to a combination of hires pdf-files, photo paper and contemporary printer devices.
In this online era, artist Peter Whiterose, a multi-skilled-artist who is a magic realism painter and a songwriter-musician, was looking for a new and easy way to get his art to the public by postcards. Although he successfully released a multimedia art-ecard system years ago, people were still asking for "good old" tangible postcards.
His solution: printable postcards, but with street-shop quality. This is obtained by delivering A4 high resolution PDF files that every user can simply print on glossy photo paper. Then it is folded in two and the card is ready to send. Without any cutting.
The advantage of this new method is that people buy the postcard files only once, and then are able to print them endlessly.
An important part of the process is the photo paper. It should be at least 170 GSM with a blank back side. Recommendations of suitable paper types are being listed. Paper manufacturers can contact the artist for adding more recommended papers to the list.
The first series exists of ten postcard files, five in portrait and five in landscape position. The cards show oil on canvas paintings, water colours, pastels and pencil artworks of Peter Whiterose.
They can be used for al kinds of celebrations and wishes, since there is no text on the front. Users can write their wishes on the back, non-glossy side of the paper, which becomes the inside, when folded in two.
Since this is a new way to obtain quality postcards, a free sample postcard file is also available at the artist's website shop at peterwhiterose.com so that people can make test prints on photo paper.
