However, little cooperation exists between local law enforcement agencies, ultimately resulting in each agency working independently. This current structure is inefficient and is not proactive in addressing the escalating crime rate. Once elected as Leon County Sheriff, Tommy Mills will focus his efforts on uniting local law enforcement agencies to find synergies where they can collaborate and share information, resources, and expertise. His solution to fighting crime at its root is to implement information sharing among all agencies as a means to improved crime analysis and criminal intelligence and to identify crime trends and patterns. A more efficient system in place that utilizes crime data from all local law enforcement agencies will help LCSO to indentify “hot spots” throughout the county as well as growing crime trends and to allocate its current resources where most needed.
