Time Warner Cable, the nation’s second largest cable television operator and provider of telecommunications services, today announced that the Buffalo Division’s program “Fight Like A Girl” has been selected by the International Academy of the Visual Arts for an Award of Distinction in the 2008 Communicator Awards and also by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) for a Bronze Excalibur Award from the Buffalo/Niagara Chapter. The awards honor Time Warner Cable for the development and implementation of the campaign to promote self defense and awareness among women 18 or older through free classes led by the Buffalo Police at Medaille College in November of 2007.
The International Academy of the Visual Arts judged more than 8,500 entries and selected Time Warner Cable’s Buffalo Division for an Award of Distinction. The 2008 Communicator Awards are the leading international awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals in the world. Time Warner Cable is in the company of winners like Coca-Cola, Microsoft and Walt Disney Parks/Resorts.
“Time Warner Cable works hard to create programs that improve the lives of those who live in the communities we serve. In conjunction with our programming partner, The Oxygen Network, we were pleased to provide the Western New York community with life skills to improve self defense and awareness. Being honored by these two fine organizations for our “Fight Like A Girl” endeavor is merely the icing on the cake,” stated Robin L. Wolfgang, Buffalo Division Vice President, Corporate Communications, Time Warner Cable.
Time Warner Cable will receive the Bronze Excalibur from the Buffalo/Niagara Chapter of the PRSA at their 19th annual awards dinner on Thursday, June 19th at the Buffalo Launch Club on Grand Island. The Excalibur Awards were created in 1990 by the Buffalo/Niagara Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America to recognize public relations programming, projects and professionals for outstanding achievement in the practice and support of public relations.
