Agito Networks, Inc., the award-winning company delivering new technology in enterprise mobility, today announced that Anthony Marano Company, a leading produce distribution company, has purchased and is deploying the award-winning Agito RoamAnywhere Mobility Router to improve the reliability and quality of its infrastructure for critical voice communications.
Located near downtown Chicago, Anthony Marano Company serves the Midwest with fine fresh produce from its state-of-the-art distribution center. The 400,000 square foot facility contains 73 docks to receive and ship more than 1,400 types of fresh produce. Now with Agito’s RoamAnywhere, Anthony Marano enables continuous high-quality voice coverage for its mobile staff, which needs to be accessible at all times to receive and fulfill orders throughout the day.
“The primary focus of this rollout has been our sales staff, buyers and management team, because their productivity is the key to our success,” said Christopher Nowak, CTO at Anthony Marano. “We are more successful and make more money when our buyers and sales staff get calls the first time around, and calls don’t land in voice mail. In addition to addressing our coverage issues, we also need superior voice quality since our handheld devices will be the primary means of communication for our employees. Agito’s unique seamless handoff capability promises to be a technological leap from previous solutions we have seen and tried.”
According to Nowak, Anthony Marano’s large metal and concrete facility makes cellular communications impossible for the staff which is constantly on the move between inside produce areas, shipping docks, receiving docks and internal offices. Accessibility is critical because the staff deals with fresh produce, a perishable commodity. Up to 3,000 produce orders are placed and fulfilled each day, and approximately 90 percent of orders are shipped the day they are received. A missed call could easily cost the company thousands of dollars, Nowak said.
“We have just-in-time delivery that parallels financial markets,” said Nowak. “We work in a competitive market where we need fast responsiveness, and we need the very best in voice quality. Agito gives us a competitive advantage because we now have the ability to respond quickly. Customers rely on us to have the right product at the right time for the right price.”
“Anthony Marano’s state-of-the-art facility is a leading produce distribution center in the United States,” said Jeff Dolce, Agito Networks vice president of sales. “We are pleased to be working with them to ensure that their sales and purchasing staffs have high-quality synchronous communication to ensure their responsiveness and the viability of their business. Enterprises are continuing to see the value of an enterprise fixed mobile convergence (eFMC) solution that provides the best coverage and voice quality possible, and scales to meet their needs.”
Anthony Marano’s eFMC ecosystem consists of Meru Networks WLAN access points, an Avaya Definity 8710 PBX, T-Mobile and AT&T cellular service, and Nokia E51 and E61 Series smart phones. They also use Microsoft Exchange 2007. According to Nowak, Agito’s RoamAnywhere is Anthony Marano’s third attempt at an enterprise mobility system.
“Agito offers us the whole package, and our users say they say they are impressed with the voice quality, address look up synchronization, and speed of handover moving inside and out,” said Nowak. “Agito lets us be productive and mobile with the fastest seamless handover we’ve seen, unlike previous solutions we’ve had, and it provides us excellent voice quality over WiFi. It gives us a big boost in productivity, and was easy to deploy on the administrative side. Nothing can enhance our staff’s productivity better than voice quality.”
About Agito’s RoamAnywhere Mobility Router
The award-winning RoamAnywhere is the industry’s first and only business mobile convergence platform that uses RF-based, location-aware technologies to reliably mobilize voice over 802.11 wireless LANs (VoWLAN) and data applications, while remaining agnostic to enterprise customers’ choices of mobile carriers. It supports all leading IP-PBX and WLAN equipment vendors to uniquely fuse 802.11 wireless LANs, enterprise IP telephony, and the carrier cellular network, improving mobile worker accessibility and responsiveness to increase mobile worker productivity. Agito’s innovative, patent-pending location-aware technology allows enterprises to mobilize voice by taking full advantage of their 802.11 WLAN deployments as a low-cost alternative to cellular networks for in-building enterprise mobility. Its patent-pending technology ensures that in-building calls stay on the enterprise WLAN (using VoWLAN), to reduce cellular expenses and eliminate dropped or poor quality calls. Agito Networks’ comprehensive set of routing metrics used to determine the time and place for WiFi/cellular network handover includes network cost, load, reliability, delay, location, packet loss, battery life, call or session quality, and signal strength to route mobile device voice calls, enabling fast, automatic call routing between WiFi networks and cellular networks in a more intelligent manner than any other eFMC solution. Agito’s patent pending sub-second, automatic handover of calls between WiFi and cellular is transparent to users.
