The 5th Congressional Blues Festival will be held this year at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC. This festival has been growing momentum every year and has been called "one of the greatest events of the year!" The Congressional Blues Festival is one of the fastest growing music festivals in the country!
On the artist bill this year are: Robert Cray Band, Elvin Bishop, Sarah Lee Guthrie (Woody Guthrie's daughter) Johnny Irion, Atlanta GA legends such as Beverly "Guitar" Watkins, Mudcat, Sol, Ardie Dean, Captain Luke, Big Ron Hunter, Macavine & many more!
The offical Afterparty will be live music by Sol Creech Band in Washington DC starting at 11pm.
For those of you that have never been, the Congressional Blues Festival is over the top. Non-stop entertainment, complimentary beer, wine, soft drinks and food all night. The event celebrates and honors the work of the Music Maker Relief Foundation, a non profit organization, that strives to assist the true pioneers and forgotten heroes of America Roots Music by providing direct grant money to recipient artists for things like food, medicine, utilities, and career development.
Tickets are free of charge and are exclusively available by online lottery on the festival website but the lottery is now closed. However, for the first time the festival has made a small amount of Caravan Club Memberships available that can GUARANTEE your tickets to this years festival. Memberships range from $35 up to $120 and can include up to 2 guaranteed tickets as well as a festival tee shirt, poster, commemorative credential and more.
