Blackney Hayes Architects (BHA), one of Philadelphia’s prominent architecture and interior design firms, celebrates 20 years of success this month, commemorating the date with a launch of a new service and a new website.
Kevin Blackney and John Hayes founded the firm in the basement of Hayes’ house in 1988. Today, nearly 20 years after its inception, BHA has grown into a renowned, award-winning architecture and interior design firm, with a staff of 50 professionals, with strong expertise in a number of markets, including corporate, hospitality, secondary and higher education, housing, urban renewal, historic preservation, institutional, adaptive reuse, residential and healthcare.
“It is hard to imagine 20 years have gone by, but I see examples of our work everywhere we go,” says John Hayes, AIA, founding partner of BHA. “It is fun to fly into the city and look out the window and see projects we have worked on. It is a long way from the basement.”
Today, entering into its 3rd decade, BHA continues to soar to the top of its profession through investment in technology and a keen understanding of what clients will need in the future. BHA has been at the forefront of LEED and sustainable design practices, garnering years of experience in designing environmentally sensitive, sustainable buildings. BHA also offers clients the advantage of project design through building information modeling (BIM), which allows our clients a greater understanding of how projects will look, feel and function - even before they are built.
Starting this year, BHA will offer a new service to its existing clients and partners: marketing communications design. In addition to providing architectural and interior design expertise, BHA will now also help clients market and promote their projects.
BHA has also launched a new website that reflects the firm’s evolution. “Our new website is a significant milestone in the evolution of BHA’s brand image,” says John Hayes, AIA. “We envisioned this new identity to better express our role in the architecture business and capture our professional, yet personable, approach to client interaction.”
Every project should be approached from the client's point of view is the guiding principle that motivates the professionals at BHA to recognize and understand each client’s goals - whether budgeting, scheduling, quality or aesthetic -- and, in the end, create an environment that helps achieve those goals.
