ATEN International, leading designer and manufacturer of advanced connectivity solutions, has enriched its entry-level Master View™ product line with the new 2- and 4-port OSD-enabled KVMP™ (Peripheral) Switches, the CS1732B and the CS1734B. They are designed to allow SOHO users to expand and enhance the functionality of their complete installation. In effect, the solutions allow users to control two or four multiplatform computers from a single keyboard, monitor and mouse console; provide dual interface functionality for both PS/2 and USB environments; offer a built-in 2-port USB 2.0 hub for peripheral expansion, and audio ports for a rich sound experience.
The CS1732B and CS1734B KVMPTM Switches centralize control of two or four computers and two additional USB peripheral devices all from one console. The built-in USB ports on the front and rear panel can connect to USB printers, digital cameras, flash drives, or other USB devices, allowing peripheral sharing among the computers connected to the KVM switch. With an intuitive OSD menu, front panel pushbuttons and hotkey combinations, the CS1732B / CS1734B offers three easy-to-use control options for accessing and managing all computers.
Thanks to their dual interface, the CS1732B and CS1734B support computers with PS/2 or USB keyboard and mouse configurations. With the included USB-to-PS/2 converter, the devices even allow a combination of a PS/2 keyboard and USB mouse. Both models provide the latest keyboard, display and mouse emulation technologies for error-free booting and real-time switching. The CS1732B and CS1734B even emulate and support Sun and Mac keyboards; read and remember the brand and display information of the monitor, and with their bypass feature, support full mouse driver and multifunction mice.
Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International, commented: “ATEN is revolutionizing the way that power and SOHO users access and control their PCs, peripherals, and audio functionality. The OSD- enabled CS1732B and CS1734B allow users to centralize control of all connected devices easily and conveniently. As the leading provider of KVMP™ solutions, we are continuously offering users the latest technologies and expansion flexibility to ensure a fantastic, enhanced computing experience.”
ATEN’s new KVMPTM switches are audio-enabled, supporting microphones, speakers, and IP telephony. The CS1732B and CS1734B offer a rich sound experience for 2.1 surround sound systems as they deliver full bass response, and provide two additional audio connectors at the front panel for IP phone users to easily connect their IP-enabled devices (like headsets). As the KVM, USB, and audio focus can be switched independently, users can listen to sound files on one PC while working with the applications on another system, controlling USB peripherals or playing a video game.
The CS1732B and CS1734B support all major operating systems (Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux, Mac, and Sun) and integrate the Auto Scan function which allows users to monitor all connected computers. For at-a-glance status monitoring, the front panel of the KVM switch is equipped with LEDs that indicate the console’s focus. Both models provide excellent video quality (2048 x 1536, DDC2B); support widescreen resolutions; are easy to install as they do not require any software; and come with a lifetime firmware upgrade service.
ATEN’s CS1732B and CS1734B KVMPTM Switches are available now. The MSRP for CS1732B is GBP £74.90 and GBP £84.90 for CS1734B, excluding VAT. For more information please contact ATEN U.K. Limited or your local ATEN sales representatives or distributor.
About KVM Switches – An Essential Server Management Device
A KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switch is an advanced, hardware-based solution that allows centralized access to multiple computers easily and conveniently from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse. A KVM switch is useful in an extensive range of environments, suitable for SOHO users, small and medium businesses, and large corporations. Fundamentally, a KVM switch allows server rooms and data centers to optimize rack space in the IT environment, reducing costs and the clutter of keyboards, monitors and mice. Additional benefits include savings in energy consumption, server racks, cabinets, and floor space. Since a KVM switch provides access to a number of computers from a central location, IT professionals are no longer running from one server to the next, thereby streamlining workflow and increasing productivity. To meet the ever-developing needs of the globalized economy and the Internet, KVM solutions now have over-IP functionality for remote management capability that better fulfills the demands of corporations who need to manage multiple server rooms worldwide.
