This accomplishment exemplifies Auriga’s commitment to quality and continual process improvement in executing software projects.
The CMMI model developed by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University for assessing a company’s software engineering capability and maturity of the processes, defines five maturity levels. CMMI Level 4 achieved by Auriga is the level of quantitative management. At this level, an organization sets quantitative goals, and important processes are controlled using statistical and other quantitative techniques, which significantly adds to the predictability of the process performance.
Auriga has always focused on the quality of services provided to its clients. High quality is ensured by using mature software development processes and a quality management system, which are continuously improved. For years, the company has been working on combining its own vast experience and accumulated best practices in implementing software engineering processes with the SEI CMMI recommendations. Auriga has come a long way making its processes and QA procedures meet the customers’ expectations and increasing their business value. The resulting software development process combines predictability and effectiveness of the CMMI model with orientation on client goals, flexibility, and agility—the traditional qualities of the Auriga software development process.
To formally confirm Auriga’s compliance with CMMI requirements for Level 4, the company passed the final SCAMPI A appraisal in August 2007. The assessment was performed by Mr. Jacques Joubert from ProceXpert, an official SEI partner organization. Mr. Joubert commented on the results of the assessment:
“I was extremely pleased to assess the AURIGA organization and to study Auriga’s achievements in making the software engineering processes compliant with SEI CMMI Level 4. I was very impressed by the practical use of some sophisticated statistical techniques, formerly considered as R&D techniques, in anticipation of the latest requirement of the Software Engineering Institute.”
Dr. Alexis Sukharev, Auriga’s President and founder, said:
“Reaching CMMI Level 4 is a natural step for us in striving for excellence in providing software R&D and product engineering services. We pay high attention to the actual needs of the organizations looking for software outsourcing services, and we make significant investment in QA and process improvement to meet the customers’ expectations. We made a special effort to combine CMMI recommendations that bring stability and predictability to the process with our vision of the ideal service that we have been practicing from day one. This vision is dictated by our customers who want us to be agile, proactive, creative, and flexible in every aspect of our work to provide the best solution for their unique situation. And this combination really pays off for both sides.”
