Unify Corp., a global provider of application modernization software, and Triad Systems, a Brazilian information systems company and developer of custom and co-billing solutions, today announced a partnership to distribute and resell Unify’s NXJ Java application development software throughout Brazil and other Latin American regions.
Under this partnership, the companies will open a certified training center for NXJ in Sao Paulo Brazil in mid-2008. The training center, which will be the first of its kind in Latin America, will provide education and certification on NXJ application development to software development professionals throughout the region. According to Brasscom, the Brazilian association of Software and Service Export Companies, Brazil will export $5 billion in software through 2010, demonstrating a large market opportunity for Java development software.
“Through our partnership with Unify, we will establish a new industry methodology for Java application development in the Brazilian market,” said Silvio Rodrigues, president of Triad Systems. “NXJ provides costs reductions, developer productivity gains, and high quality and speed of development that will lead to growth and profits. Our initial investment includes the sales structure and the investment in the training center.”
“We will target the NXJ training at corporate development organizations and individual groups of developers,” said Sergio Rodrigues, commercial account manager for Triad Systems, responsible for managing the Unify partnership. “We are preparing the training calendar for 2008 and will be providing training courses in the main states around the country.”
Unify’s NXJ is an award-winning and powerful Java development environment for building Rich Internet Applications in a service-oriented architecture (SOA). Using NXJ, developers quickly design, code, deploy, and debug applications in a visual unified environment, which in some instances results in up to 80 percent faster development than building Java applications from scratch. “A productivity gain of this magnitude will enhance competitiveness for any development organization. For example, a simple system of data maintenance, developed in Java could take 160 hours, but with NXJ could be reduced to 50 hours,” concluded Rodrigues.
“Brazil is important to our international sales strategy for its large IT presence and large base of software programmers,” said Victor Espinal, Latin America sales manager for Unify. “We are strengthening our presence in the region and will turn up the sales volume during the next 24 months. In January, a commercial and technical team from Unify will be in Brazil to certify the first developer class and to organize workshops that will allow Unify and Triad to penetrate the market with NXJ.”
