British Publishers Limited will be hosting the next in its series of global eStrategies events in Bahrain on January 22nd 2008, following the success of its most recent event which was held at the eChallenges Conference in the Hague.
This exclusive Roundtable Forum will bring together the leading and most important Government and industry decision makers from across the Middle East to discuss the future of technology-enabled Government.
Over the past decade, no region has matched the growth of ICT more consistantly than the Middle East. Spear-headed by forward-thinking Government, Internet usage in the Middle East jumped by more than 300 per cent between 2000 and 2005. In Saudi Arabia, use increased by a factor of 100.
Following the example of the world leaders in eGovernment, the Governments in the Middle East have adopted ICT successfully, which has been replicated by their citizens. The indicators point to a potentially huge demand for eGovernment services. According to Internet World Statistics, Six Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, are on the Economist Intelligence Unit's rankings of 68 of the world's largest economies that have what it takes - the ICT infrastructure and the sophistication of their consumers, businesses and government - for eGovernment services to be brought in.
The main theme for this roundtable is to review the standard of ICT-enabled government across the region and to identify the best means of growth and improvement in terms of eGovernment capacity.
The growing success of eStrategies globally has attracted experts from major international companies, such as Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Deloitte, Cap Gemini, EMC and Sun Microsystems. One of the key sponsors of the Bahrain eStrategies Roundtable is the global ICT vendor SAS and speaking at the Roundtable will be Bill Hoggarth, Vice President Middle East and Africa.

The Director of the Technical Cooperation Unit for the Administrative State Reform Ministry of Lebanon described a previous eStrategies Roundtable “as a main step towards forming a regional eGovernment Strategies community-of-practice".
