Internet Communications Leader Appoints Digital Media and Content Veteran
SightSpeed, Inc., the award-winning provider of free and premium Internet video and voice communications services (VVoIP and VoIP), today welcomed digital media veteran Peter Csathy as Chief Executive Officer. Csathy most recently served as president and COO of Musicmatch, Inc., which was acquired by Yahoo! in 2004 after being widely recognized as an innovative and leading digital music company. Csathy, who has provided counsel to SightSpeed over the past year, brings a wealth of digital media and content expertise to a veteran SightSpeed executive team. He will drive the company’s vision and enhance its award-winning communications services available today with industry-leading community and commerce services in the near future.
“Peter brings with him a critical breadth of operational and business expertise gained from the fast-moving digital media industry, extensive and deep relationships across a wide range of technology and content companies, and a proven record of success,” said Dan Miller, SightSpeed’s Chairman of the Board. “He will be key in building upon SightSpeed’s established leadership in Internet communications and charting its path for future accelerated growth.”
“It’s an honor to join this talented team,” said Csathy. “SightSpeed’s easy-to-use video calling services are already widely considered best in class. As we look to 2006, expect to see accelerated growth through already established and new partnerships, as well as innovative enhancements and revolutionary community and commerce services. SightSpeed has always prioritized video, and we believe that IP-based video communications of all kinds – including video calling, community and commerce – represent the next frontier of compelling content and are poised for explosive growth.”
At Musicmatch, which had a similar free-to-pay business model, Csathy was responsible for driving the company’s business development, sales, legal and finance activities. Prior to Musicmatch, Csathy served as COO of eNow, Inc., a global subscription-based media/technology company. At eNow, he was responsible for the company’s overall operations and execution, as well as overseeing the company’s successful business development and financing efforts. Before joining eNow, Csathy was a senior vice president at Universal Studios, where he was responsible for driving, negotiating and executing all major international and domestic new business opportunities, strategic initiatives, corporate partnerships, acquisitions and joint ventures for the Recreation Group. Prior to Universal Studios, Csathy served as a senior executive at Savoy Pictures Entertainment and New Line Cinema. He began his career as a media and intellectual property attorney, representing music and motion picture clients. Csathy received his J.D. from the Harvard Law School, and his B.A., summa cum laude, in Political Science from the University of Minnesota.
