YourTechOnline.com Inc, PC Magazine Editors’ Choice award-winning provider of 24-hour-a-day online technical support, announces its plan to bring technical support and infrastructure advancement to the HIV/AIDS relief and child education crisis in Africa. The first organizations to be supported by this program include the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) in Cameroon, Africa and the Gembu Centre for HIV/AIDS Advocacy Nigeria (GECHAAN) in Nigeria, West Africa.
Through this initiative, YourTechOnline.com will train nationals over the Internet to support networks and workstations in three major hospitals, 62 health centers and 128 schools under these organizations’ control. YourTechOnline.com will also provide 24/7 online support for key individuals throughout these organizations—all at no cost.
“We believe the best way for our company to participate in providing relief in Africa for the HIV/AIDS pandemic is to deal from our core competence,” said Steve Wandler, CEO of YourTechOnline.com. “Computer support is what we are all about, so we’re eager to provide our services to leading African organizations and are thrilled to know that 100 percent of our contribution will go directly toward HIV/AIDS relief and educational programs.”
YourTechOnline.com’s unique service delivery model utilizes the power of the Internet, state-of-the-art screen-sharing software and a staff of friendly, highly trained technicians to provide on-demand, real-time computer service and repair to personal computer users worldwide. This radical method of computer repair enables YourTechOnline.com to provide training sessions and computer repair services to those on the front lines of HIV/AIDS relief and child education in Africa.
YourTechOnline.com is challenging other technology companies to join them in an effort to provide technological support and infrastructure advancement for Africa. Hewlett Packard Canada and Sana Security have already confirmed their participation in the program and are committing their respective technologies to the cause.
“By bringing on like-minded technology partners who can contribute to the program from their areas of strength, we can play a pivotal role in developing the much needed technology infrastructure for frontline organizations,” said Wandler. “Helping well established organizations like CBC and GECHAAN is exciting because we know that what we are contributing will make a difference today in the life of someone half way around the world.”
The primary functions of the program will be to support the technological needs of the organization’s directors, doctors, administrators and other key participants in order to maximize their effectiveness and impact, and also to train nationals from within the country so that they can perform onsite support as necessary.
“Technical infrastructure is key to maximizing the effectiveness of our efforts,” said Cal Hohn, Field Director for CBC. “We need to be able to accurately track people through stages of testing and treatment, flow and availability of medicine and supplies and reporting of services rendered. We have nearly 500 computers in our organization and most of them are five to seven years old, which presents a huge uptime challenge. This program will allow us to focus on the task at hand instead of struggling with technology.”
As faith-based organizations, the CBC in Cameroon and the GECHAAN in Nigeria play a vital role in helping the World Health Organization (WHO) in reaching its stated goal of universal access towards HIV prevention, treatment, care and support by 2010. YourTechOnline.com has already provided over 20 hours of tech support and training to the CBC and GECHAAN, as well as countless hours in planning and meeting with various organizations and nationals.
Immediate participation opportunities to help in this effort include supplying up-to-date computer hardware, software, technical support, internet connectivity and technical training. For more information on YourTechOnline.com and how to help these organizations visit yourtechonline.com/africa.
