Schedule for January 30 – 31, 2008 at Talking Stick Golf Course. This event will have several of Kevin Sorbo’s friends and is open to the public to come out and play. This event is schedule to correlate with some of the local parties set for the week of Super Bowl. Monies raised will go for A World Fit for Kids Organization.
Kevin quickly rose to international stardom in the title role of the hit series, “Hercules”, and has gone on to several movies and television appearances.
When asked how Kevin supported this cause, Sorbo replied - I support A World Fit for Kids by serving as Chair and Spokesperson. I speak on their behalf at special functions and I look for opportunities to raise awareness and financial support for the organization. Last year I appeared on Celebrity Jeopardy and Celebrity Millionaire and raised $42,000 for the charity. Next year beginning 2008 we will start with two golf tournaments, one in Scottsdale and one in Las Vegas, turning it into an annual event.
A World Fit for Kids! has a superhuman ability to bring together parents, teachers, local businesses, police, city and public health officials, religious organizations; youth service organizations, universities and national sponsors. The program is made up of matriculating layers including adult volunteers, university administrators and students, and high school students who coach and mentor the middle and elementary school kids.
A World Fit For Kids program is unique because of the powerful format of 'kids teaching kids' - it provides teens with responsibility and self-esteem and younger children with mentors and positive role models, saving two lives in the process.
"This golf tournament is special to me because Kids are our future and they deserve a safe, nurturing environment, positive role models and the opportunity to fulfill their dreams and their true potential. This is our goal and A World Fit for Kids is a better world for all of us, said Sorbo. There is no better time to bring Heroes & Celebrities together than during the week of Super Bowl. I hope everyone joins us to have fun and raise money for the kids.
The Kevin Sorbo Celebrity Classic will include a Pairings Party the night before with golf the next day. Winners will receive invitations to Kevin’s next golf tournament in Las Vegas later in the year. This is the week of Super Bowl – so the theme will be appropriate. Fans attending will have the opportunity to not only meet and receive autographs from some of their favorite sports heroes and celebrities, but also compete in fan participation like a Hole-In-One Contest and a Putt for a Car.
