AOpen and SKY Electronics today announced that they are launching, ‘eXPeditor’ VIP (Vertical Integration Platform). Expanding beyond the concept of MODT (Mobile on Desktop) such as power saving, whisper-quiet operation and less thermal problem, both companies will extend the eXPeditor VIP service to an array of product lines ranging from component level and motherboards to module levels such as Mini PC, Digital Engine, and Advanced Aggregate Display.
eXPeditor VIP adopts the core of Intel® GM 945 and GM965 chipsets, Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme (Merom) and duo-core 64 bit processors such as Intel® Core™ 2 Duo (Merom). The greatly enhanced operational performance enables VIP to meet the increasing demand from the vertical application markets for products and services that are geared to perform critical tasks. The companies will also extend this service to AMD Platform Solutions in the near future.
“In this age of lightning fast technology advancements, the applications and vertical markets are now gradually moving from the traditional entry-level performance, long product lifecycle, IPC concept. ‘Digital Signage applications’ users, for example, are demanding that the LCD screen plays high resolution video advertisements while another small section of the same LCD screen should also be used to display other informative messages. This requires higher system performance by the components such as Intel chipsets. The same goes for Computers in Cars and Hotels which needs PC systems with ultra small form factor,” says Manoj Thacker, Managing Director of SKY Electronics.
