Learning Light (LL) has signed a partnership agreement with major educational publisher, Cambridge University Press, to use its Global Grid for Learning platform to distribute learning content worldwide on behalf of the UK LearnOnline consortium.

UK LearnOnline is a consortium of learning content producers which has developed the learning content for the National Learning Network (NLN). In May, UK LearnOnline, which promotes the UK learning industry on a global scale, appointed LL as a trustee of the consortium. LL’s role within the consortium is to be its exclusive representative to manage the marketing, sales licensing and administration of the NLN materials directly and through resellers worldwide – that is, anywhere outside the UK.

The Global Grid for Learning is a subscription-based website and web service providing reliable and copyright-cleared educational content to schools and teachers across the world. The Grid integrates with a wide variety of software platforms and devices and brings together established publishers to provide teachers and learners with the capability to search, preview and download from a library of diverse and rich digital assets including video, simulations and graphics that teachers can use to design personalised learning for their students.

Working in collaboration with established technology and content providers, Cambridge University Press has undertaken that the Global Grid for Learning will ‘provide a quick, easy to use and, most importantly, a reliable service for fast moving and forward thinking educational publishing’.

Mark Pittaway, LL’s CEO, commented: “Cambridge University Press’ Global Grid for Learning provides an exciting and valuable opportunity to allow teachers and students, from all over the world, access that they might not otherwise have to the wealth of learning materials that have been developed by the UK LearnOnline consortium. This can only be beneficial for the world’s teachers, students, the Global Grid for Learning and, of course, UK LearnOnline.”
