Each year Frost & Sullivan presents this Award to the company that has been most effective in growing market share within their industry. Verizon Partner Solutions is the recipient of this Award in recognition of the company’s 29.9 percent share of the local access private line market and 19.8 percent share of the long haul private line market, based on Frost & Sullivan research.
"Amidst the intense competition within the local access and long haul private line market, VPS is one of the undisputed market leaders," says Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Rajat Sharma. "Furthermore, VPS has a higher market share in the local access private line market, a market saturated with many more players than in the long haul market."
The competition is no longer limited to traditional Tier 1 companies in the private line market, but has heated up considerably involving tier 2 companies like Level 3 and niche players like 360 Networks as well.
The market is also facing heat from regional fiber and optical providers and private line players have to be on their toes to not only compete with other competitors within the market but also with competitors from substitution industries.
"VPS has impressed and wowed the market with its newest offers that have differentiated themselves from their competitors," notes Sharma. "VPS has offered flexible contract terms for its optical and Ethernet services as a result of Forbearance, along with a new National Discount Plan and service level agreements."
The company also plans to introduce their Bandwidth-on-Demand services that will give Verizon’s customers the flexibility to turn up a private line service based on their unique bandwidth requirements within minutes as opposed to days or even weeks. Customers will be billed only for the bandwidth they utilize. As a result of this flexibility, Verizon’s customers will now only be billed for the bandwidth they require and not for dedicated, long haul facilities over a long period of time.
VPS had already been investing in private lines in the local access segment. However, with the acquisition of MCI, not only does VPS have an extended national and international network but also has acquired several new key large wholesale customers. As a result of the MCI acquisition, Verizon now has some of the strongest private line infrastructure facilities. Thus, the continuous focus of building its reliable, high quality network has returned Verizon Partner Solutions with the leading market share.
