The Council for Quality Growth is pleased to announce that John A. Williams has been selected as its 2007 Four Pillar Tribute Honoree. This prestigious award will be bestowed upon Mr. Williams at the new Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on September 20, 2007 in the John A. Williams Theatre. This will be one of the first events held at the breathtaking new Cobb Energy Centre and guests will be among the first to view it.
The Four Pillar Award and Tribute is a unique honor that celebrates the individual’s significant contributions to the Atlanta region’s growth, economic development and quality of life. The ‘Four Pillars’ of Quality, Responsibility, Vision and Integrity are the very principles on which the Council for Quality Growth was founded. Co-chairing the event this year is Gerald L. Pouncey, Partner, Morris,Manning & Martin, LLC and David Connell, Region Distribution Manager, Georgia Power. Speakers honoring Williams will include 2005 Honoree, U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson as well Arthur Blank, Chairman and CEO of Arthur M. Blank Family of Businesses; Kessel Stelling, President and CEO of the Bank of North Georgia; Dr. Vic Pentz, Senior Minister , Peachtree Presbyterian Church and Former Governor Roy Barnes.
“This year’s honoree is yet another excellent choice. He is an individual that embodies every quality—Quality, Responsibility, Vision, Integrity--that this award represents,” states Connell.
Mr. Williams has been a driving force in quality growth and development in the Atlanta Region as well as many major cities across the country since founding Post Properties in 1971. The standard for high quality residential apartment home development was set through Williams’ attention to detail, landscaping and design. Today, Mr. Williams is the Chief Executive Officer of Williams Realty Advisors, LLC as well as President and Chief Executive Officer of Corporate Holdings, LLC. Throughout his career he has directed and coordinated the development, construction and management of more than $6 billion in real estate developments. His philanthropic and civic contributions throughout our Region combined with his steadfast belief in quality and innovative development exemplifies the attributes of the Four Pillars.
With the selection of Mr. Williams comes a unique opportunity to honor the Four Pillar recipient in the Cobb Energy Centre, the very venue that Mr. Williams helped envision, create and financially support. Plans are underway for a festive black tie reception and full course buffet dinner spanning throughout the multi-tiered lobby levels and outdoor terraces. The evening will be capped with entertainment and the award ceremony in the John A. Williams Theatre, a state of the art theatrical venue which is the centerpiece of this magnificent new landmark.

Pouncey adds: “John’s work with his own businesses, when combined with his devotion to trade organizations, athletics and the arts has made a profound contribution to the Atlanta region.”
Williams is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Falcons of which he is also a minority owner. He serves on the Advisory Board of Georgian Bancorporation, Inc. and FCA Venture Partners, IV. He has previously served on the boards of Riverside Bancshares, Inc. where he was the largest shareholder; the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority; the Atlanta Regional Commission; Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau; Post Secondary/Vocational Education; the Executive Committee of the National Apartment Association; the Board of
Directors of NationsBank and Barnett Banks, Inc. as well as the Board of Directors of Crawford & Company and Post Properties, Inc. He is the Founder and past Chairman of the Cumberland Community Improvement District. He served as president of the Homebuilders Association of Metropolitan Atlanta, Chairman of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Metro Business Forum, Chairman of the Regional Business Coalition, Chairman of the Cobb-Marietta Coliseum and Exhibit Hall Authority and Chairman of the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce, serving two terms. Mr. Williams was born and educated in Atlanta. Following graduation from the city’s public school system, he entered the Georgia Institute of Technology where he earned a BS in Industrial Management.
