At the conclusion of the US - China Strategic Economic Dialogue in late May, both countries agreed to develop up to 15 large-scale coal mine methane capture and utilization projects in China over the next five years.

According to China Daily, the country hopes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by the equivalent of 200 metric tons of CO2 by upgrading its CBM industry.
