This Council was originally launched in response to the opportunities and challenges presented by China as the manufacturing and sourcing center of the world, but has increasingly focused on how to create an agile global supply chain. 5 years in operations, the Council has steadily to become the largest and the most famous reputable supply chain professional organization in Asia providing an open forum to drive thought leadership and collaborative best practices with respect to supply chain management.
Representing almost 500 paid corporate members and a community of some 10,000 companies and several hundred thousand employees, the Council strives to serve its members and the general interests of the supply chain profession in Asia. The Council offices are now located in Shanghai, Hong Kong and New Delhi and more countries are planned to be added in the near future.
"Our organization was founded to address the need and information requirements from leading manufacturers and retailers operating in China," said Max Henry, Founder & Executive Director of the Global Supply Chain Council. "With our recent expansion to India and the soon-to-be launched chapter in Vietnam, the Council will soon produce over 100 events and activities in the region and no other organization can either compete or catch up with our offering."
"Whether they like it or not, other organizations like the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), the SCOR Supply Chain Council, The Association for Operations Management (APICS), Institute for Supply Management (ISM), The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) have already lost the battle here in China” added Max Henry, its founder.“These organizations have historically done a poor job in expanding outside their home market, and they provide very little benefits and activities and nearly no local support to leading companies operating in Asia.”
The Council provides its members with business intelligence and offers access to a network of supply chain professionals in the disciplines of procurement, sourcing, manufacturing and logistics. Activities include: workgroups, trainings, seminars, conferences, summits, match-making meetings, supply chain and logistics awards, annual vendor directory, enewsletters, online surveys, benchmarking, market research and recruitment among others.
