Pixsy Corporation, an award-winning media search platform that powers private label image and video search engines, today announced a strategic partnership with iStockphoto. iStock is the world’s most-visited stock imagery and video site, home to 1.5 million-plus members and the pioneer of the $1 image.
Under the terms of the agreement, Pixsy’s Proprietary Media Search Platform will index thumbnails of iStock’s vast collection. Pixsy customers can search on Pixsy.com, and, if they wish, purchase the desired imagery directly from iStock. All of iStock’s 1.7 million images and videos can now be found via Pixsy, and Pixsy will automatically receive several thousand new images and videos added to the iStock collection every week.
“iStock is the leader in affordable stock imagery and offers the most diverse and high quality user-generated stock image collection in the world,” said Garth Johnson, vice president of business development for iStockphoto. “Pixsy reaches a large online population. iStock, as the pioneer in value-priced images, offers a great price point for many of Pixsy’s publishers.”
Pixsy has also selected iStock as one of the company’s top 10 content providers inside PixsyPower. PixsyPower is a suite of media search tools and widgets for website publishers of all sizes; enabling website publishers to increase their site traffic by offering unique content and media search functionality to their visitors. This joint partnership will drive traffic to iStockphoto.com and result in additional qualified traffic from the Pixsy Network.
“Working with iStockphoto is a very exciting opportunity for Pixsy. Our proprietary search technology is uniquely suited to support one of the world’s pre-eminent photo and video collections. Moreover, we’re pleased to offer the iStock collection to a broader audience as a part of our Pixsy search index,” said Chase Norlin, Pixsy CEO.
An image or video is downloaded from iStock every 2.5 seconds and the site is growing by about 100,000 new members monthly around the globe. iStock was one of the very first social networks to create commerce from community and shares revenue with 35,000 artists, who each make up to 40 percent on the sale of their stock imagery and videos, which range in price from $1-$50.
About iStockphoto
iStockphoto, (istockphoto.com), is the world’s busiest image market, with an image downloaded every 2.5 seconds. iStock pioneered the micropayment phenomenon in this industry, enabling buyers to license images for as little as a dollar. iStockphoto entered the stock video market in September of 2006, selling video for as low as $5 per 30-second clip. In partnership with its members, iStockphoto has turned community into commerce, transforming the digital imagery market by encouraging passionate dialogue and education, while making imagery affordable to businesses that may not have licensed imagery otherwise. iStockphoto is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Getty Images.
