The Advocacy Dinner is a black-tie event that is attended by the travel industry’s leaders. It is a chance for ASTA to spotlight its role in the legislative process and for attendees to socialize and network with like-minded travel professionals. The night will include a special showcase performance by Andrew Lloyd Webber’s current London co-production of The Sound of Music, as well as speakers and special guests celebrating ASTA’s value in shaping the political policies affecting the business of selling travel. Tickets are available to THETRADESHOW attendees and guests at $190 per person; $130 per person for President’s Club members; and $2,200 for a reserved table of 10.
“ASTA has been at the forefront of important legislative issues that have impacted not only ASTA members, but the travel industry as a whole,” said Cheryl Hudak, CTC, ASTA president and CEO. “Our hard work in educating our members about new laws and advocating for fair and equal rights for travelers has made all the difference in our members’ ability to service their clients effectively, efficiently, knowledgeably and profitably.”
The evening will start with an exclusive black-tie reception, followed by a dinner with top industry leaders. At the 2006 Advocacy Dinner, a representative from Enterprise Rent-A-Car spoke about legislation proposed in Florida that would have hurt the rental car industry were it not for ASTA’s efforts to lobby against it. Ultimately, the bill died in committee.
ASTA (astanet.com) also will recognize the contributions of its Political Action Committee (PAC), both during the dinner program and in a separate publication.
The 2007 ASTA Advocacy Dinner will take place Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at 7:00 pm at Caesars Palace, located at 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. South in Las Vegas. Make your reservations now as space is limited. To RSVP, contact Andie Snider, asnider[.]astahq.com or call 703.739.6876.
ASTA’s (American Society of Travel Agents) mission is to facilitate the business of selling travel through effective representation, shared knowledge and the enhancement of professionalism.
