Bruker today at the EPDIC 2026 (epdic19.com) announced the launch of the D8 ADVANCE HE and D8 DISCOVER HE, new X-ray diffraction systems specifically optimized for High-Energy X-Ray Diffraction (HE-XRD), expanding the ability of researchers to capture higher real-space resolution, extended total scattering range, and bulk structural information with laboratory-scale HE-XRD.
A key innovation is the new LYNXEYE HE detector based on Bruker’s proprietary CdTe-based detector technology (patent pending), featuring >99% efficiency across Cu, Mo, and Ag energies and requiring no external cooling media or infrastructure. The resulting high detection efficiency improves the performance of high-energy crystallography and Pair Distribution Function (PDF) analysis for crystalline, nanostructured, and amorphous materials.
High-energy X-rays facilitate non-destructive diffraction of bulk samples and operando investigations of electrochemical cells, reactors, and other intact devices. Dedicated solutions, such as the
TC POUCH temperature chamber, enable controlled electrochemical cycling of battery pouch cells at elevated temperatures, helping researchers directly to correlate structural changes with performance in battery materials during real-time operation.
To translate this rich scattering data into meaningful structural insight, the systems leverage Bruker’s DIFFRAC.SUITE software. The integrated software supports experiment planning, measurement execution, large dataset handling, and advanced evaluation workflows, enabling efficient analysis of complex data and high-throughput automation across large data volumes.
The D8 ADVANCE HE and D8 DISCOVER HE build on the established D8 platform and maintain full compatibility with Bruker’s extensive portfolio of X-ray optics, sample environments, and automation solutions, providing a scalable and future-proof platform for applications ranging from routine analysis to advanced research.
