Anyone who has a breakdown or accident on a highway or motorway in Spain is required to use a certified V16 warning light such as the LEDguardian ROAD FLARE Signal V16 IoT from OSRAM Automotive. With this regulation, the Spanish traffic authority (DGT) aims to increase safety at accident sites and enable faster assistance. Via a mandatory communication module, the lights are directly connected to the Spanish traffic authority (DGT) and can automatically transmit their location if necessary. In Germany, V16 lights are not yet approved.

Statistics show that such accidents are particularly frequent on expressways and at dusk or at night. The figures make it clear that this aspect of road safety also requires modern solutions.
Unlike Spain, Germany does not currently allow the use of V16 lights. Nevertheless, drivers in this country have options for increasing their safety with the latest lighting technology.
