• Three-year initiative to deliver 100 exclusive colors for Xiaomi vehicles;

The initiative aims to drive innovation and personalization in automotive color design, redefining the visual language of smart mobility.
As Xiaomi’s coatings (mi.com) partner since 2023, BASF Coatings plays a pivotal role in this project. For the first batch of new colors, BASF Coatings contributed throughout the entire process from R&D to mass production, providing full-layer coating solutions from e-coat, primer, basecoat to clearcoat.
These colors include “Velocity Red,” “Dawn Pink (Matte),” “Nightfall Rose,” and “Buttercup Yellow,” along with the striking “Amethyst Purple” created using BASF’s dual-layer clearcoat technology for a crystal-like finish on Xiaomi’s custom models.
Specifically, highlights of these colors include:
• “Velocity Red”: Customized red clearcoat from BASF Coatings with 20% higher color saturation;
• “Dawn Pink (Matte)”: Matte clearcoat for a sculpted, foggy texture;
• “Nightfall Rose”: Warm-cool contrast with aluminum and pearlescent pigments for color-shifting beauty;
• “Buttercup Yellow”: Triple pigment layering for high saturation;
• “Amethyst Purple”: ProGloss 2K and ProGloss Plus 2K dual-layer clearcoat locks light for a mirror-like crystal effect.
