A key feature of the new server motherboards is Kontron OpenBMC, an open source-based management platform for remote server administration. It enables administrators to comprehensively control and monitor servers remotely, including power management, reboots, hardware resets and detailed sensor monitoring, such as temperatures, fan speeds and voltages. The interface also provides direct access via an integrated KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) function, enabling convenient administration of servers even without physical access. Standardised management protocols such as Redfish and IPMI ensure compatibility in data centres, while encrypted communication, dedicated management ports and advanced authentication mechanisms provide a high level of cybersecurity.
K3881-C: High performance in demanding server environments
The K3881-C is Kontron's first industrial server motherboard developed and manufactured in Germany. Based on the Intel® C266 chipset, it supports Intel® Xeon® E-2400 and Xeon® 6300 processors. Thanks to its DDR5 memory with ECC support, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, three PCIe slots and four M.2 interfaces, the board offers high performance and expandability. Combined with support for Kontron 5G wireless solutions, it becomes the ideal choice for demanding server and storage systems, entry-level cloud services, and edge applications in sectors such as factory automation, healthcare, and broadcasting. In addition, the K3881-C can be seamlessly integrated into 1U to 4U rack solutions, enabling easy scaling of existing data centre or edge infrastructure. Thanks to its combination of enterprise-level reliability, expandability, remote management and OpenBMC support, the K3881-C is the optimal solution for businesses requiring high performance and security.
K3882-C: Cost-optimised solution with enterprise features
Tailored for efficient server applications, the K3882-C offers a powerful feature set despite its lower price. Supporting Intel® Xeon® E-2400 and Xeon® 6300 processors and using the Intel® C262 chipset, it offers DDR5 memory support with ECC, dual 1GbE LAN, 2x PCIe, 3x M.2 and 4x SATA interfaces. In conjunction with OpenBMC-based management, it provides a robust and cost-effective platform for a wide range of applications such as web hosting, entry-level edge gateways and digital video recorder solutions. The K3882-C can also be seamlessly integrated into 1U to 4U racks.
