This strategic investment, representing a major upgrade over the previous analog system, is expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency and safety for the approximately three million passengers who travel through the network every day.

This new digital land mobile radio solution provides uniform and reliable coverage that is essential for a faster response to incidents, better operational coordination and increased safety for riders and staff. According to the operator, this critical infrastructure is also designed to support future line expansions.

The new radio system links communications across the three main lines of São Paulo's subway, the 1- Blue, 2 - Green and 3 - Red lines. It offers greater channel capacity and more efficient use of the radio frequency spectrum to meet the safety and operational requirements of this highly complex environment. The solution includes more than 3,000 Motorola Solutions’ mission-critical radios and its features include encryption, network priority for emergency calls, as well as clear and continuous communication in underground areas where high levels of interference are common.

"Investing in reliable communications is fundamental to operational efficiency and the delivery of safe and seamless service," said Elton Borgonovo, MSSSI vice president, Latin America and Caribbean Region, Motorola Solutions. "We are proud to provide a solution that meets the rigorous demands of Sao Paulo’s public transport system, and can significantly improve the well-being and safety of its passengers and personnel every day."
