• Alstom has inaugurated its new office in Stockholm, in presence of Minister of Infrastructure and Housing Andreas Carlson.
• Equipped with advanced labs, the office houses Alstom experts developing signalling systems to meet the need for increased digital solutions in railways.
• Sustainability has been the focus in the equipment of the new office.

With airy office spaces, the modern premises offers excellent conditions for collaboration and effective communication between departments to develop sustainable solutions for the mobility. It also provides room for several advanced labs leading the delivery of signalling systems, including the ERTMS for Botniabanan, Ådalsbanan and Malmbanan in Sweden.

The inauguration ceremony on 19 August was attended by, among others, Andreas Carlson, Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Maria Signal Martebo, MD of Alstom Sweden, Henrik Dahlin, MD of Green Cargo and Johan Wadman, MD of Svensk kollektivtrafik. The opening welcome speech by Maria Signal Martebo and the Minister and was followed by a ceremonial ribbon cutting and musical performance. The inauguration continued with a panel discussion with focus on innovation and digitalisation including signalling technology and competence, before lastly giving a guided tour of Alstom's ERTMS-lab.

“We are continuing our investment in Sweden, this time through the new office in Stockholm, which gives us better conditions to meet the growing needs for modernisation and digitalisation of infrastructure and signalling systems in Sweden”, says Maria Signal Martebo.

Over 700 employees are currently working in Stockholm, providing deep expertise and knowledge within railway, with focus on signalling and digital solutions.

From the Stockholm office, Alstom’s experts run development of signalling systems for rail and there is a development centre for signalling technology, with products for an international market.

“With many years of experience in the Swedish railway sector and our expertise in, among other things, infrastructure and signalling systems as a foundation, the new office with advanced and well-equipped laboratories gives us even better opportunities to serve our customers with high efficiency”, says Maria Signal Martebo.

The new office has been created with great sustainability focus to reflect Alstom's engagement for responsible business and circular economy mindset. To reduce the environmental footprint in Stockholm, Alstom has renovated and renewed an existing building instead of having a new one constructed. Alstom has reused a lot of furniture and equipment from the previous office and donated or sold the remaining ones, while also prioritising second-hand furniture upon purchase. Alstom’s new office demonstrates that it is possible to create fresh and modern working environments with simple sustainable means without compromising on quality.

Alstom is the largest supplier in the Swedish train market, with over a thousand trains delivered to the Swedish railways and several large maintenance contracts. Alstom is also leading the implementation of the European Railway Traffic Management System (ERTMS) in Sweden, both on board the vehicles and along the tracks.
