The Community Action Organization of Erie County, Inc. (CAO) is inviting Buffalo area teens and young adults to a Peace Summit on Saturday, June 9th, 2007 to be held at the Greater Emmanuel Temple Church, Inc. located at 151-161 Richmond Avenue from 9am – 4pm. The Peace Summit was planned by leaders of multiple agencies to address violence in our schools, centers and neighborhoods. “Through workshops and discussions, we hope to determine the motivations for recent acts of violence and/or homicides and develop plans of action that address these issues,” stated CAO Executive Director L. Nathan Hare.

The Peace Summit is free and open to Buffalo area teens and young adults and includes breakfast, lunch, a summer and youth focused job fair, remarks from Mayor Byron W. Brown, video and film presentations, the launch of our S.O.S. campaign (Save Our Streets, Save Our Sons, Save Our Sisters, Save Our Selves, Save Our Souls), a youth rally, t-shirt giveaway, hip hop music and more.

We encourage youth to participate in this summit and as an incentive to attend participants will receive free admission to a hip hop concert that evening at 7:00pm at the Uptown Theater, located at 3165 Bailey Avenue that will feature national recording artist, Todd Bangz, DJ T. Jizzle and hip hop artist Kulu and Spiritual Warfare. For those who do not attend the summit, the cost will be $10 at the door. For more information, call 881-5150 or visit the CAO website to complete the registration online form.

The Community Action Organization of Erie County, Inc. is a private, non-profit human service organization founded in 1965 and its mission is to promote self-sufficiency through advocacy, partnerships and services.
