This collaboration allowed OPPO (oppo.com) to develop an ultra-crystalline blue glass that significantly enhances night photography with true-color image capturing.
The SCHOTT filter absorbs nearly all NIR radiation while maintaining high light transmittance. Optimized to replicate the way human eyes perceive light, it enhances the phone’s ability to absorb infrared light by 81%, resulting in more lifelike and natural night images. A pioneer in specialty glass, SCHOTT has built a long-standing collaboration with OPPO. Beyond high-quality optical glass, SCHOTT also supplies its ultra-thin, flexible SCHOTT® UTG glass for OPPO’s innovative foldable devices.
Although invisible to the human eye, natural infrared light is easily detected by smart phone sensors often leading to optical issues like color distortion. To tackle this, the Find X8 Ultra’s imaging system developed in collaboration with Hasselblad incorporates SCHOTT’s advanced NIR cut filter glass. The result is an ultra-crystalline blue glass with outstanding infrared absorption that significantly reduces night scene glare and noise.
