• The Siemens Xcelerator industrial software portfolio covers the lifecycle of a vessel: from concept, design, and simulation, through production and commissioning, to operation and service;
• This technology helps to increase process quality and reduce costs and delivery times;
• These tools will be applied to all phases of the lifecycle of the Coastal Hydrographic Vessel (BHC) program;
• Both Navantia engineers and specialists related to the value chain of this naval program have already received training through Siemens' Marine Digital Twin program.

The technological collaboration agreement that Navantia and Siemens have been developing over the past few years has taken a step further to realize the concept of Shipyard 5.0 under the program called ELCANO.

As part of this collaboration, Navantia (navantia.es) is using Siemens Xcelerator industrial software in the Coastal Hydrographic Vessel (BHC) project for its conceptual, functional, and detailed design. This project, the first of its kind, involves the construction of two vessels for the Navy in the shipyards of the Bay of Cádiz.

Siemens (siemens.com) is uniquely positioned to offer a comprehensive platform for the entire lifecycle of a vessel, from the initial concept, design, and simulation, through production and commissioning, to the operation of the vessel and associated services.

Siemens technology includes the most advanced digital tools, such as NX™ design software; Teamcenter® software for product lifecycle management; Simcenter™ software for system and vessel simulation and optimization; and the Tecnomatix® portfolio for process and shipyard simulation. In the future, the digital solution will be completed with plant data collection through Insights Hub™, Siemens' industrial IoT solution 'as a service'.

The digital transformation of Navantia's processes is accompanied by extensive training of the employee profiles necessary for the successful execution of this project. Navantia's workforce and specialists linked to the value chain of this naval program have already received training through Siemens' Marine Digital Twin program, a unique training initiative in the naval sector offered by the Naval Excellence Center (Cesena) for Spain.

In collaboration with the main naval clusters and associations, Cesena is leading the training of sector professionals and will launch a training program with courses on Marine Digital Twin starting in the first quarter of 2025.

The implementation of Siemens Xcelerator digital tools in Navantia is an important milestone expected to set a precedent for other shipyards. It will enable them to successfully adopt proven technology to position the Spanish naval industry at the forefront of the sector.
