• TDK received the Digital Transformation (DX) Certification from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on October 1, 2024;
• The certification promotes company-wide DX with the aim of improving operations and creating new value using digital technology.
The DX Certification System was established to strengthen the competitiveness of Japanese industries and accelerate the realization of Society 5.0 based on the strategy laid out by the Japanese government and promoted by METI. Based on the Act on the Facilitation of Information Processing, the government certifies that a company has the vision, strategy, and system to transform its businesses using digital technology, with the DX Certification. Companies are recognized for complying with these requirements of the “Digital Governance Code”, and in turn, are awarded this certification. With the acquisition of the DX certification, TDK strengthens its position as a DX player and major electronics manufacturing innovator. The company aspires to become the No. 1 partner alongside its worldwide customers by enhancing its enterprise value, acquiring the necessary digital and IT talent to strengthen its structure and contributing to the acceleration of the company’s long-term vision,“TDK Transformation.”
As concrete steps forward, TDK is improving operations and creating new value using cutting-edge digital technologies. In 2023, TDK launched a company-wide DX project in three major areas that informs its operations today:
● DX in sales and marketing: enhancing sales and marketing capabilities through automation and market analytics;
● DX in manufacturing: operational efficiency enhancement and streamlining process in electronics manufacturing;
● DX in sustainability: strengthening sustainability by focusing on decarbonization of entire value chain supported by digitalization.
Through these DX projects, TDK will maximize the performance of its existing businesses and strengthen corporate sustainability with the fusion of next generation digital technologies, upskilling and reskilling of employees, and transformation of work processes. In addition, along with its marketing, R&D, and corporate venture capital (CVC) capabilities, the company is strengthening its innovation base and expanding the main product portfolio into new business domains that will support social transformation through DX and green transformation (GX).
Going forward, TDK will continue to promote company-wide DX and create new value that supports technological evolution and social transformation.
