Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, Inc. (LRQA), a member of the Lloyd's Register Group, will participate in the PORTSECURE 2007 Canadian Maritime & Port Security Conference and Expo May 24-25, 2007 in Toronto, ON, Canada. Hugh Hutton, LRQA Lead Assessor, will address the audience on the importance of port security management and ISO/PAS 28000, an internationally recognized security management system specification for the supply chain.
LRQA’s sponsorship and participation in PORTSECURE 2007 follows a series of supply chain security management engagements in which LRQA has participated worldwide. “LRQA is at the leading edge of supply chain security management system certification. Having issued the first ISO/PAS 28000 global certificate, we’re in a prime position to share our experience and expertise to help our clients manage security risks and assure continuity of supply,” says Andrew Smith, Senior Vice President, Lloyd’s Register Americas Management Systems.
ISO/PAS 28000 certification helps create a systematic framework in which organizations can assess security risks and threats, implement controls, and make arrangements to mitigate and manage risks and threats. Derived from the same basic principles as ISO 9001, ISO/PAS 28000 is positioned to integrate with other management system standards such as ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
