We are enhancing our tried and tested decentralized I/O and control system SLIO with a new I/O-Link module and the Yaskawa IO-Link Manager software! That means the SLIO I/O-Link module now enables communication between CPUs and I/O-Link-ready field devices such as sensors and actuators in accordance with IEC 61131-9.
This new development can be run directly on the CPU or through a fieldbus coupler with a CPU. The module operates as an I/O-Link master – you can connect up to six masters, which enables the operation of up to 24 IO-Link devices per head module. On the hardware side, it has four freely parameterizable 64-byte channels, which can be operated in either standard input/output (SIO) or I/O-Link mode. Status LEDs indicate the current mode and any errors that occur. The ports are galvanically isolated from the backplane bus.
The IO-Link Master modules are configured, controlled and updated through another new addition, our IO-Link Manager software. The IODD files are reloaded through an IO-Link community server. A high degree of data security is ensured in doing so, because IODD files do not contain any executable code. The software communicates with one or more connected IO-Link master modules via Ethernet and is capable of reading out and visualizing their configuration. Furthermore, users can change the configuration through a GUI (graphical user interface), save it locally on a data medium and write it to the module again via Ethernet. The behavior of the module is controlled and changed by changing the configuration.
