Power management company Eaton today announced that two products from its Tripp Lite business stood out among the best tools to have during a power outage in Wirecutter, an independent product testing and review site from the New York Times.
According to Wirecutter, the Tripp Lite TLP1208TELTV Protect It! ® 12-Outlet Surge Protector offers the best and most trustworthy surge protection available at a reasonable price. Wirecutter recommends this surge protector to guard electronics when the power flickers on and off, creating voltage drops and surges that can degrade or seriously damage equipment.
The reviewers also liked that “unlike many bargain options that will power your gear unprotected, this Tripp Lite model will shut down completely when the protection is gone so you never put your electronics at risk.” The model received kudos from reviewers for having four outlets widely spaced to accommodate power bricks.
For short-term backup power, Wirecutter’s reviewers (nytimes.com/wirecutter) chose the Tripp Lite AVR750U Line-Interactive Desktop UPS System, a 750VA unit with six outlets that provide backup power and an additional six outlets with surge protection only. The reviewers noted that this UPS provides enough power to keep a desktop PC, monitor, external hard drive and more going for a few minutes to allow for saving files and safely shutting down, or to power a modem and router for an hour or more to keep Internet and digital phone service online during a blackout. “Though you can find fancier options with more power and bigger battery backups, this basic model has everything most homes need to handle minor voltage fluctuations or short blackouts.”
“We’re honored to be recognized by the New York Times Wirecutter review for both of these products,” said Glen Haeflinger, senior vice president and general manager, Distributed IT, Eaton. “Power protection against outages and surges is our bread and butter and we pride ourselves on providing outstanding product features and reliability. The TLP1208TELTV is one of our most popular surge protectors, especially for AV applications because it provides RJ11 and coax connectors. And the AVR750U is a great choice for a UPS with a low profile and dependable backup capabilities for a desktop computer system or home theater setup.”
